Chapter 3 They're Disgusting

Silvia looked down at her insteps and raised her head calmly. "What's wrong?"

"Where are the documents about First Love? I've searched the entire lab, but I couldn't find it. Do you have any idea what day it is today? Why did you run out instead of staying in the lab?"

Following her line of sight, Ladarius saw that there was a small cut on her instep. He felt guilty, but he quickly remembered that the competition tonight was more important.

"The new product show and contest start at night, right? I thought there was still time, so I went to buy some clothes to prepare."

Before Ladarius could speak, Vivienne, who was beside him, smiled, "Why? Are you planning to show up?"

"Can't I?" Silvia turned to look at Vivienne, her so-called friend, and asked.

Vivienne's smile grew bigger. "I didn't say that. I'm just worried that you won't like it there. Besides, you never participate in these events."

"She's right. You never like these places that are filled with people chasing after fame and money. Just stay at home and wait for our good news! Where are the documents?"

Walking toward her, Ladarius reached out, wanting to pat Silvia on the shoulder, but Silvia cleverly turned her body sideways to avoid him.

Ladarius' fingers froze, and then he saw her take out a brown paper bag. His attention was instantly diverted.

"It's all here, right?"

He took it. Maybe he was not too assured. Anyway, he opened it, carefully checked the documents inside, and then handed it to Vivienne.

His movements were so natural. Vivienne casually glanced at the information inside, her lips curling into a satisfied smile.

Vivienne knew one thing or two about perfume, but she wasn't as talented as Silvia.

After hooking up with Ladarius, she stopped working hard. Therefore, she almost forgot all the knowledge she had about perfuming after all these years. She had been taking credits and reaping where she had not sown.

Holding the stack of papers, Vivienne felt that she could see herself holding the trophy of the contest.

"Where is the sample?" Vivienne asked.

"Come to the lab before you leave."

Vivienne and Ladarius were so excited that they bluntly exchanged glances in front of Silvia. Seeing that, Silvia felt sick. "Ladarius, are you sure I can't attend tonight's event?"

Ladarius was stunned and frowned. "Silvia, what's wrong with you? I told you it's for your own good. Did you forget about the rookie contest two years ago? You...

"I'm not saying that you will fail. But... There is always a 'what if' in everything. What if something happens? Then..."

He didn't finish. He looked like he was thinking for her sake.

Silvia would have almost been moved to tears by the two if she hadn't seen the scene the night before.

Every word they said was for her good. They were so considerate, kind, and ... disgusting!

"Alright then. Good luck tonight!"

After that, she turned around and said, "I'll go back to the lab."

"OK! Prepare the sample. Nothing can go wrong tonight, understand?" Ladarius nodded hurriedly.

Silvia curled her lips into a cold smile. Of course, she would make sure that nothing would go wrong tonight.

On the way, she called Winnie. Winnie sounded concerned. "Silvia, are you OK? By the way, Mr. Flores has been looking for you."

"I know. Winnie, about the thing I asked you to prepare, is it ready yet?" Silvia asked while looking at the road.

"Yes. But... First Love has been adjusted many times. Are you sure you want to add another ingredient right now?" Winnie asked worriedly.

Having been Silvia's assistant for so long, Winnie believed in Silvia's ability and appreciation level.

But First Love had been adjusted for several months. When the product was finalized, Silvia was very satisfied. The contest was tonight. Why did Silvia change it now?

"Do you believe in me?"

"What are you talking about? Of course! But are you really not going to participate in the contest yourself?"

Although she knew the answer, Winnie still could not help but ask.

As Silvia's assistant, Winnie knew how much effort it took to invent each new perfume. Silvia was the one who invented so many best-selling perfumes, but no one knew.

Vivienne took all the credit. Just thinking about it made Winnie feel irritated.

Silvia smiled. She knew that Winnie was on her side.

"What should be mine will be mine," Silvia said meaningfully. "Winnie, they will go and collect the sample later. Just do what I told you to do. Thanks."

"Leave it to me!"

Hanging up the phone, Silvia made a turn and directly entered Warin's underground parking lot.

Warin was a big company and covered a large area. The entire building belonged to Warin. Even the underground parking lot was shockingly spacious.

Fortunately, Simon made preparations in advance. She followed the navigation to the designated parking spot. Freddie was already waiting there.

"Ms. Austin, follow me, please."

She went up using the exclusive elevator, and Freddie briefed her quickly.

He said, "The materials and the sample have been given to the Project Department. First Love and another two Warin's perfumes will be the entries tonight."

Silvia nodded. "Thank you."

Simon was being generous. V.L spent three months making preparations for the contest tonight, from deciding on the theme to finalizing the specific plans.

Silvia's perfume was listed as one of the entries on such short notice. Someone else's work might be replaced. Also, Warin might face unpredictable risks.

Freddie put it simply, but Silvia figured that the people from Warin might not be OK with her perfume cutting halfway. Maybe Simon forced them to accept the fact by virtue of his identity.

She had to win tonight's contest, and she had to win by a landslide!

When Silvia entered the door, she saw Simon sitting behind a large desk. There were two thick stacks of documents beside his hands, and he was reading them.

Perhaps he heard something, he looked up. Silvia was a little nervous.

"Come here." He put down his pen.

Silvia walked over. He sized her up and narrowed his eyes. "You're injured?"

Only then did Silvia remember that her instep was scratched by the broken pieces. Just as Silvia was about to say that she was fine, she felt that her body suddenly became light, and Simon had already picked her up.
