Chapter 7: Desire

**(Leah's Perspective - The Next Day)**

The next morning, I deliberately scanned the school entrance. Sure enough, the bright yellow Camaro was gone, replaced by a much more understated yet luxurious Jaguar convertible with sleek lines. Elliot sat in the driver's seat, his deep brown hair looking exceptionally soft in the sunlight.

Mustering my courage, I walked over with a bright smile. "Hey! New ride? It's really handsome!"

He looked momentarily surprised but returned the smile instantly. "Good morning, Leah. Felt this one suited the mood today."

I slid naturally into the passenger seat. "Definitely!"

We were laughing and talking as the car glided into the school grounds. I spotted the familiar, tank-like Jeep in the rearview mirror. Kayden was just jumping out. When he saw me with Elliot, his face darkened instantly. His fists clenched, and he looked ready to storm over.

His best friend, Mike, held him back firmly, speaking urgently into his ear, probably telling him to calm down, to remember the need for secrecy.

Elliot noticed, of course. A barely perceptible smile touched his lips. He reached over and, with a completely natural gesture, gently tucked a stray strand of hair behind my ear. His fingertips brushed lightly against my skin, sending a cool, pleasant shiver through me.

"Your hair was a bit messy," he murmured, his gaze so tender it could drown a person.

My face flushed scarlet. My heart hammered against my ribs. **Was he… showing interest?** I was completely disarmed by this sudden intimacy, instinctively leaning a little closer, utterly lost in the ambiguous atmosphere.

**(Elliot's Perspective)**

She was so close. The sunlight fell on her slender neck, her skin so pale it was almost translucent. I could see the faint blue veins beneath, could sense the warm, vital blood pulsing within them.

**Thump-thump… Thump-thump…**

The sound of her heartbeat was like a war drum against my eardrums. A primitive, cold thirst rose from the depths of my throat. Her scent—a mix of youthful freshness and something indescribably, supremely enticing to a vampire—enveloped me.

I wanted to bite. Right now. Sink my fangs into that fragile skin and taste…

**No!**

At the last possible second, I sharply turned my head away, violently suppressing the bloodlust surging within me. My own heart was racing abnormally fast.

"We… should get to class, Leah," My voice was slightly hoarse, carrying a subtle tension.

A flicker of disappointment crossed her face, but she nodded obediently.

I got out of the car almost hastily, needing the cool air to clear my head. Watching her walk towards the school building, a cold, stark question surfaced in my mind:

**What is it about her that draws me in? Is it the light in her eyes when she discusses Shakespeare? The resilient soul beneath her quiet exterior? Or… is it just my vampire instincts, reacting to the sheer, defenseless, blazing "life" before me, with the purest, darkest form of hunting desire?**

I didn't know. But it made everything far more complicated. And far more… dangerous.
