Chapter 37 Don't keep me waiting too long

The call was answered quickly, as if I had expected her to come.

"Felix, did you send those things?" Adeline asked impatiently.

"Well, it's me!" Felix had a faint smile on his productions.

"Why did you send these all fine and make such a big fuss about it!"

"Didn't I say I would bring you food this morning? You refused, so I'll have someone else deliver it!" The voice opposite was deep and pleasant, with a hint of a smile.

Adeline gritted her teeth: "You sent it... It's so bizarre that it will make people think too much!"

"People will only think that Adeline is lucky to have a man of great status pursuing her, Adeline, that's my good will."

He said the last sentence with a hint of grievance, which made Adeline unable to utter the words she had been scolding.

"I... I know!" Adeline looked at herself in the mirror in a daze: "Felix, are you because of what happened last night? Actually it doesn't have to be like this. I got drunk last night, said some nonsense, maybe lost my temper, but now I'm sober and I'm fine."

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone. After listening to him for a long time, he said, "Adeline, I just wanted to make you happy, not all because of yesterday's incident."

Adeline felt a tingling in her heart and let out a breath: "Thank you, but I won't have to do this again. I'm not used to it. I'm afraid you'll feel tired too."

"Why do you think I'm tired, Adeline? How do you understand me?" Felix retorted, his tone rather cold.

If it was a love game to him, wouldn't the painstaking efforts to please him be tiring?

Adeline licked her productions, wanting to say something but not daring to.

It was too quiet on the phone, and Felix broke the ice first: "Go and have a meal. It won't taste good if it gets cold. I'll pick you up after work."

"No need, I can do it myself..."

"I said, I'll pick you up!" A firm and unyielding tone, the next moment the phone was hung up directly.

Adeline put away her phone, her emotions churning.

After having a meal, she went back to work. Adeline was a bit distracted in the afternoon, and several times Yuki was distracted when talking to her, which made her worry.

"Adeline, what's wrong with you? Is there anything?"

She hurriedly shook her head: "Nothing. Where did you just say?"

"We've been talking about investors all the time, and today I finally got an investor who's interested in working with us."

Adeline's gloom cleared up at the news: "Really, who is it?"

"Mr. Qian, who is in real estate, is preparing to invest in TV and movies recently and has dealt with Director Zhao before."

"Oh, did mom work with him?"

"None!" Yuki shook her head. "I don't know exactly why, but it's an opportunity at all. We have to give it a try."

"Well, of course, when is the appointment time?"

"Tomorrow night."

At last there was a start to the money, Adeline felt a little relieved and worked with more energy until the phone rang.

It was Felix's.

She looked at the sky. It was already evening.

Adeline didn't want to talk much to him, so she packed up and went down, and saw his understated and luxurious sports car from a distance outside the building.

She opened the car door and got in. Seeing his expressionless face, she hurriedly explained, "I was about to get down anyway, so I didn't answer the phone."

Felix said nothing. His handsome face was half in the light and half in the shadow, so it was impossible to tell his mood.

"You're coming so fast, probably afraid of being discovered, Adeline, tell me honestly, is our relationship bothering you now?"

"No, I'm lucky to marry you. How could it be a trouble?" Adeline shook her head.

She spoke softly and her eyes were sincere, but Felix felt very uncomfortable, as if he were suddenly in a fog, and she looked at her gently, neither too far nor too close.

He frowned hard, unable to make out the reason.

"Time is fine. Let's go to the movies!"

Adeline was a little nervous. Yesterday she had lied to him that she was going to the movies, and today he was doing this again. Was he deliberately punishing her?

"Um... Forget it. I'm so tired from work today and I want to go back early to rest."

In fact, she misunderstood Felix. He really wanted to go to the movies with her. After all, their relationship had developed too fast all along. He actually didn't get along well with her in a tender way.

He wanted to really build up the relationship between them.

He looked at her as deeply, his eyes brimming with emotion, and finally said, "OK, I'll go home and sleep with you."

The car moved fast and the atmosphere was a bit depressing. Adeline looked out of the window at the branches that had not yet sprouted and felt as desolate as the dead tree.

The two of them slept on the same bed at night, and Felix, as soon as he lay on the bed, habitually reached out to embrace her and noticed the girl's stiffness.

She seemed to turn her back to him unconsciously and let out even breaths.

"Don't want me to touch you?" He bit her earlobe, his voice hoarse.

Adeline closed her eyes, her long eyelashes quivering, as if she had heard, as if she had not.

His face darkened and his gaze was as if trying to see through her state of mind at that moment.

After a long while, he let her go and said softly, "I'll wait for this little whiff to pass, but don't keep me waiting too long!"

Adeline opens her eyes, capriciousness? Is she just throwing a little girl's tantrum in his eyes?

When she got up the next day, Felix had already left, and there was delicious food on the table. Manager Zhang said with a smile, "Young lady, this was made for you by the gentleman so early in the morning. He really cares about you. Please don't be angry with him anymore. Only when both husband and wife make concessions can they live a fulfilling life."

Adeline just smiled. If they were a real couple, that would be easy to say.

Even if it's just a quarrel, it's only been a day or two, and they're already impatient.

Adeline decided to ignore the complicated relationship between her and Felix for the time being. At this stage, it was better to focus on her work and carry forward the Canhua left by her parents.

At eight o 'clock in the evening, she arrived on time with Yuki at a clubhouse.

Adeline looked at the bustling dance floor with a headache and said, "Why did he ask for such a place? I guess he's not a person of good character."

Yuki chuckled: "My young lady, you really have too little contact with society. Nowadays, many people like to make deals in KTV clubs and clubs. These scenes seem chaotic, but they are actually very safe and can deceive people."

"To deceive people?" Adeline found it funny: "You're talking like a spy movie."

Yuki led her up: "That's what the big shots like. We, the shrimps, naturally have to follow their rules. I heard even Mr. Felix likes to do business in this place."

Adeline's heart sank and her smile faded.
