Chapter 3 More Ruthless Than Him

When they got home, Jewell showed her the payment information. She had received six hundred thousand dollars.

"The money has been transferred to your account."

Although it was not much, it was not a loss to come there.

Jewell asked, "Are you sure you don't want to earn that twenty million dollars? It's not often that someone comes across easy money like this. Besides, you spent eight million dollars on this villa when we bought it!"

Over the years, Angel hadn't taken any work and had been a good wife to Heller. She didn't have much money left in her private account. She had spent all her savings on a villa. It was time for her to make more money and enjoy life!

Heller replied, "If there's no danger involved, you can take the job. But make sure you investigate thoroughly!"

Jewell understood what she meant. Three years ago, Angel had taken a job and saved someone's life, which had an impact on other people's interests. As a result, the other party hired an assassin to kill her. If it weren't for her quick reaction and Jewell's help, she would have suffered a lot that time.

"Okay, I'll arrange to meet them first and get some more information."

After visiting Polina at the hospital, Heller unconsciously drove back to Stardust Villa.

Looking at the dark villa, he realized that Angel had left.

He sat in the car, lit a cigarette, and smoked quietly. Then he pushed the car door open, got out of the car, and walked in.

As he looked around the empty space, he couldn't help but think of Angel and how she used to wait for him in the living room with the lights on.

Now that the familiar warmth was gone, Heller felt a bit irritable. He walked over to the liquor cabinet and poured himself a wine, which he downed in one gulp.

He took out his phone and dialed Angel's number.

"The number you have dialed is not in service." The mechanical system prompt came. Heller furrowed his brows and confirmed the number was correct. He guessed what had happened and chuckled to himself.

Angel was even more ruthless than he was!

In the past three years, she had been gentle, kind, and easy to manipulate. Even when he had asked for a divorce, she didn't furious and still looked hurt and reluctant to part with him.

But now, just a few days later, her number was disconnected.

He called Chasel and said in a deep voice, "Find out where Angel is."

...

The next day.

Chasel reported back to Heller, "Mr. Foster, we still haven't found any trace of Ms. Torres."

Angel had appeared in Heller's life unexpectedly. She was an orphan with no one to turn to, and Heller happened to need a pretend partner to deceive his family at that time, so Angel was the best choice for Heller.

After leaving him, where else could Angel go with no one to rely on?

"Keep looking."

He didn't believe that Angel could disappear from Joplin City.

Then, Heller received a call from the hospital.

"Mr. Foster, Ms. Stewart's poison is acting up again. She's unconscious and keeps calling your name. We had no choice but to call you."

"Tell her I'm on my way."

Heller got up and hurried out.

Three years ago, Heller had been drugged by his enemies. When he was dying, Polina saved him by sleeping with him. Since then, Heller felt bad for her and decided to take responsibility for her.

But all these years, when Heller was with Polina, he always felt that there seemed to be something missing between them. On the contrary, he felt more comfortable when he was with Angel.

Thinking of the woman who had disappeared without a trace, Heller lowered his eyes, and his expression darkened.

Just as Heller had entered the hospital, Angel appeared wearing a peaked cap and a face mask.

Angel entered the elevator and dialed a number when she came out.

"I'm here. Where are you?"

According to the other party's instructions, Angel soon appeared in the director's office of the neurosurgery department.

"Tanner!"

Hearing her voice, Tanner Romero turned around and hugged her. "You're finally willing to show out. Where have you been for the past three years? I haven't heard from you at all!"

"I got married."

"What? With whom?"

Tanner was surprised that Angel had gotten married.

Angel did not answer his question but said, "I'm divorced."

Tanner was speechless.

Tanner had a complicated expression on his face, and he forcefully swallowed the words of congratulation he was about to say.

Angel turned a blind eye to Tanner's complicated expression and sat down on the chair. "Tell me, what can I do for you?"

"It's our master's old friend who needs surgery. He specifically asked for me, but the situation is a bit complicated, and he is also quite old, so I'm a bit uncertain. That's why I'm asking for your help."

Tanner was originally just trying his luck. After all, he hadn't heard from Angel for three years. Unexpectedly, he managed to contact her last night.

Angel raised her eyebrows and said, "I haven't done it for a long time. Aren't you afraid that I'll ruin your reputation?"

"If you would fail, I won't dare to have this operation!"

"Give me the X-ray inspection result. Let me take a look."

Ten minutes later, Angel stood up and said, "Let me know when you settled the surgery time."

Suddenly, Angel remembered something and asked, "Can you help me find out which ward Polina is in?"

Tanner asked reflexively, "Who is she? Your friend?"

"My husband's lover. Because of her, I got divorced!"

Tanner was in shock but did not say anything.

Angel found the ward and saw a woman lying on the hospital bed wearing blue and white striped patient clothes. She was a delicate woman, easily arousing men's protective instincts, yet she wasn't particularly outstanding in looks. In fact, Polina wasn't even half as beautiful as Angel.

Tsk, what a stupid man with poor taste!

Angel saw Heller was peeling an orange and feeding it to Polina, talking with gentleness and occasionally showing a faint smile. Although Heller had been treating Angel well for the past three years, she always felt a sense of distance from him. Angel had never seen Heller be so gentle before.

Angel could not bear this anymore. She turned around and left.

As if sensing something, Heller suddenly raised his head and got up to chase after her out of the ward, just in time to see a familiar figure flash past the corner.

Heller got a feeling that the woman was Angel!

When Heller was going to catch up with Angel, he happened to meet Chasel, who came to pick him up.

"Mr. Foster, what's wrong?"

Heller asked in a deep voice, "Did you see anyone when you came over?"
