Chapter 2 They Matched

At night, Maggie was awakened by the sound of the door opening. She was a light sleeper. When she opened her eyes, she saw Lance standing in front of the bed. There was no light on in the room, and his tall figure looked like a ghost trying to steal her soul in the dark.

Maggie shuddered and cringed under the covers. However, Lance stretched out his long arm and lifted her.

"Maggie, I warn you. If you dare to hurt her, I will kill you!" His icy breath brushed Maggie's face, and that made him look more like a murderous ghost.

Kill her?

Even if Lance didn't kill her, she wouldn't live long.

Despite this fact, Maggie felt a ripping pain in her heart after she heard his words.

It had been five years. Maggie had been married to Lance for five years, but he spoke to her curtly and ruthlessly in front of his old flame.

Besides, did she say she would hurt Hedy?

Maggie had been feeling dizzy since she came back from the hospital, but even so, she knew that she didn't say she would do anything to Hedy.

"If you want her to be safe, stop seeing her from now on," said Maggie lightly without any emotions.

Since Lance firmly believed that she was a vicious woman, she didn't need to defend herself.

"Don't think about it!"

As Lance spoke, he loosened his grip, and Maggie fell back on the bed. "Five years ago, you drove her away with your power. After five years, I won't let you hurt her again."

Yes, Maggie was the president of the Rudolph Group. Five years ago, the Rudolph Group was the leading company in the business world. At that time, Lance had just taken over the Muller family and couldn't rival her.

In Lance's mind, Maggie left five years ago because Maggie drove her away, but he didn't know that Hedy chose money over him.

Maggie didn't want to explain because Lance wouldn't believe her.

"Do men think the women they fail to get are the best?" Maggie could never understand. She was more beautiful and powerful than Hedy. Most importantly, she loved Lance more than Hedy. But why didn't Lance love her?

Lance didn't reply. He wouldn't bother to do that. Maggie looked out the window. Thinking of her end, she smiled faintly, "Lance, if I die one day, will you think of me occasionally?"

A cold banging of the door was his reply to her.

Three days later, Maggie received a notification from the hospital that her kidney matched that of Hedy successfully.

In fact, Maggie took the test on a whim after seeing the mismatch between Lance and Hedy. However, it seemed that fate liked to play a trick on her. Her kidney actually matched Hedy's.

Although Maggie hated this result very much, her fate seemed to do her a favor. She was willing to exchange her kidney for spending her last time with Lance.

She loved him humbly.

Maggie took the report and knocked on the door to Hedy's ward.

"Why do you come?" When Lance saw Maggie, he frowned and stood up, standing in front of Hedy protectively.

"My husband is here. Why can't I come?" Maggie gave a faint smile, which made her perfect face more charming.

As Maggie spoke, she went up to the bed and handed Hedy the flowers she bought at the flower shop at the gate. "Miss Gould, I wish you a speedy recovery."

Hedy dodged as if Maggie gave her a murderous snake instead of flowers. She clutched Lance's clothes and said, "Lance…"

Her low cry was soft and timid as if she was bullied. Even Maggie pitied her, let alone Lance.

"What do you want to do?" In the next second, Lance reached out and knocked off the flowers that Maggie held, grabbing her wrist.
